What is Youth World?
Youth World Dallas Learning Center is a non-profit youth organization that impacts children in need by inspiring hope for their future and relieving economic burdens. Their goal is to help meet critical community needs for “at-risk” children. Youth World is a free resource for the community to find economic relief, community support, supplemental education resources, music/arts programs, mentoring, athletic clinics, summer camps and more! For more information on the Youth World organization, head to www.youthworld.org!
What will I be doing at Youth World?
Our main objective during our week at youth world will be to come alongside the Youth World staff in providing a safe and fun environment that points to the Gospel. Each summer, Youth World hosts a 6-week summer camp for 400-500 kids. Kids are there from roughly 9a-3p, and we’ll be serving as an extension of staff during that time. Each student will be paired with a “team” (age/gender) of kids for the week that they will get to spend time with each day. As a team, we will be helping with programming, leading small groups, and showing the love of Christ to the Youth World campers. During the evenings, we’ll be hosting community events for families, and helping Youth World with extra projects that they simply can’t get done on their own. There is always something that needs to be done around Youth World!
Where will I be staying?
We’ll be staying in the Youth World building during the week. The building is equipped with a large kitchen, meeting spaces, and some open rooms where we will be sleeping on air mattresses (guys and girls separate of course!).
How will we be getting there?
We’ll be taking the beautiful journey through Kansas and beyond on 12 or 15 passenger vans! All van drivers will be background checked and will have completed a van driving safety course before the trip.
What will we be eating?
We’ll make sure that you get 3 square meals a day! Breakfast will be “continental” with fruit, cereal, bagels, yogurt, etc. Lunch will be the lunch provided by Youth World. For dinner, we’ll bring in food from restaurants in the area. If you have specific allergies, don’t worry, we can work with you to figure that stuff out!
What does the mission trip process look like?
After you fill out the application, we’ll be in touch regarding the team and future important information and dates. We’ll have monthly team meetings where we work through PV’s “Ready Set Go!” material, and do some planning for our time in Dallas. It’s important that you stay on top of team meeting dates, due dates for paperwork, and due dates for funding, as this will make the whole process much smoother for you!
Do you need leaders for the trip?
Yes! We are looking for the right fit and mix of leaders to help lead our students on this mission experience. If you have any questions about coming on this trip with us, contact Marla and email@example.com
