Peter 2:15-17
15 For it is God’s will that by doing
good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people. 16 Live
as free people, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as
God’s slaves. 17 Show proper respect to everyone, love the
family of believers, fear God, honor the emperor.
God has
chosen us, set us apart and called us His holy people. That truth sets us apart with the power and
ability to do good in all the areas of our lives. We are free, unincumbered, unrestrained and unleashed,
but our freedom is never a license for self-indulgence or evil. We are no longer slaves to this world but to
God Himself and He longs for us to conduct our lives in holy goodness in every
expression and relation of life.
Pray:
Father, Thank you for loving me and setting me
free to live as your child. Help me to
walk through the days of my life expressing your truth and values in every
way. May my life bring you honor and
cause everyone I encounter to be confronted with your goodness, for you are
worthy of all the praise of all creation.

Peter 2:11-14
11 Dear friends, I urge you, as
foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against
your soul. 12 Live such good lives among the pagans that,
though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify
God on the day he visits us.
13 Submit yourselves for
the Lord’s sake to every human authority: whether to the emperor, as the
supreme authority, 14 or to governors, who are sent by him to
punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right.
As the old song
goes…”This world is not my home, I’m just a passing through,”. It is easy to get comfortable and pursue the
comforts of this world; all the things that would lead us away from our true
identity as a follower of Jesus and child of God. But Peter reminds us that we are displaced
from our true home and our Lord has endowed us with the splendor of a greater
life beyond the boundaries of this world.
Our hope is not here and as such we can endure every discomfort and
challenge we experience. We know our
Lord is working out his purposes in this world and we are here to participate
in His work regardless of what we encounter in the day, for His good purposes
will prevail.
Pray:
Father, Thank you that you are at work in our world today. Help me to remember my citizenship is with
you in your kingdom and as such I can live today demonstrating your
goodness. May my life reflect
you and your goodness regardless of how I am treated or what I experience. May your good purposes prevail today and
always, Amen.

Peter 2:9-10
9 But you are a chosen people, a royal
priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the
praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once
you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not
received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
Now, more than ever, we need to remember the great calling God has for
each of his children. He has chosen us,
given us great dignity and set us apart for himself.
May we never forget the darkness that He drew us from and the amazing
life He has brought us into, and may that truth forever be marked by our
praise. Because of God’s great love for
us, we have a new identity as His people, ones who have
experienced His great mercy which has radically changed our lives and
dramatically changed our destiny
Pray
Father, Thank you for your great love for
us. You alone are worthy of all my
praise. Thank you for drawing me to
yourself and setting me apart as yours.
Help me to live in the light of this truth and may my life bring you
honor in the actions of my life, the words of my mouth and the attitudes of my
heart. In the name of your Son, Jesus, I
pray, Amen.

Peter 2:4-8
4 As you come to him, the living
Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him—5 you
also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house c
to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God
through Jesus Christ. 6 For in Scripture it says:
“See,
I lay a stone in Zion,
a
chosen and precious cornerstone,
and
the one who trusts in him
will
never be put to shame.” g
7 Now
to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe,
“The
stone the builders rejected
has
become the cornerstone,” j
8 and,
“A
stone that causes people to stumble
and
a rock that makes them fall.” k
God makes us ‘at home’ with one another by building us into a holy
people where Jesus is our Cornerstone.
He loves us so much that he would never leave us to be alone, and he
also gives us one another to enjoy life with.
He is building us into a beautiful expression of life in his kingdom
where we minister to one another and are precious to God Himself. What a joy it is to be part of His glorious
family.
Pray:
Lord, thank you for the privilege of being able to come before you
in the name of your Son Jesus. Thank you for choosing me and calling me
precious in your site. Thank you for building
me into the spiritual home of your family.
Help me to be a blessing to my church family and that my place of
service would bring you honor. For the
sake of your Son, Jesus, Amen.

Peter 2:1-3
Therefore, rid yourselves of all
malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. 2 Like
newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in
your salvation, 3 now that you have tasted that the Lord is
good.
Peter, the foremost disciple of Jesus, calls the church to an
entirely different way of living life. Our new birth into the spiritual life is
to draw us into the insatiable desire of all that is good and godly. Because of our relationship with Jesus we can
experience the life-giving sustenance that brings true satisfaction while the
rest of the world strives on the brink of spiritual starvation.
Pray:
Lord, thank you that you are a good God and offer in abundance
your goodness to me. Please create in me a hunger for what is right and remove
from me the craving for the nourishment of this world. Help me the think, say,
and act on only what is right in your eyes and uplifting to others. I want to
honor you. Amen.
