RE|ENGAGE

Would you rate your marriage as a 2 or a 10? Maybe even a 0? You are not alone! Whether your marriage needs to be reignited, or is in need of a complete resurrection, Re|Engage is a safe place for couples to reconnect. Re|Engage offers hope to marriages by helping couples move toward oneness through stories of grace, teaching and small groups. Join us for this 16-week experience which includes a time of prayer, a teaching or testimony by a couple who has experienced victory in the midst of hard times, and small group time which follows a specific curriculum.

Re|Engage is offered each semester, usually beginning in early January and late August. The first two weeks are an “open” format where you’ll be able to meet other participants and facilitators. Then you select the “closed” group you will be with for the remainder of the semester. Re|Engage will meet Wednesday nights, from 6:30-8 pm, in Room 317. Children (birth – 5th grade) are welcome to participate in Kids Rally at the same time (registration required; link provided in Re|Engage registration).

FAQ

Is Childcare Available?

Childcare is typically available through PV Kids Rally and Middle School Ministry which occur at the same time.

How Much Does It Cost?

There is cost of $30 per couple when you register.  The one-time payment of $30 per couple helps cover the cost of materials to put Re|Engage on each week, as well as provide you and your spouse with a Re|Engage workbook to be used in your closed group. We never want the cost to be a prohibiting factor to you investing in your marriage so, scholarships are available for those with legitimate need.

When and Where Do Groups Meet?

Re|Engage typically meet Wednesdays from 6:30-8pm at PV. Everyone meets together for the initial large group portion, followed by the remaining time in breakouts with a small group.

We Are Engaged, But Not Married Yet. Is Re|Engage For Us?

Re|Engage is designed for couples who are married, regardless of duration.  If you’re not yet married we suggest you focus on marriage preparation through pre-marital coaching during this time.  We offer an 8-week pre-marital class for couples who are engaged or dating and considering marriage. Contact Debbie Mora <dmora@pleasantvalley.org> for more information.

My Spouse Doesn’t Want to Attend. Can I Still Participate?

Re|Engage is designed to be highly interactive between you and your spouse, and you and other couples in your closed group, so participation by both spouses is necessary.  If your spouse is unwilling to seek marriage help with you, we recommend contacting our Care Pastor for recommended next steps of support and encouragement you can take on your own. Contact Debbie Mora <dmora@pleasantvalley.org> for more information.

What Happens When I Get There?

First, you will meet as a large group to hear a couple’s testimony who has pursued oneness in their marriage during the midst of hard times.  After the testimony, you will break out into smaller groups. The first few weeks all groups are “open” and you’re encouraged to try more than one.  After this, groups will become “closed” and you will remain with this same group and facilitators for the remainder of the semester. Once you’re in a closed group, you will begin working through the curriculum which is rooted in Scripture, incorporating the 16 biblically based lessons.

Every week you will have some homework to do as a couple, using the Re|Engage workbook.  It typically only takes 20-30 minutes, but is essential for this experience to have an impact on your marriage relationship.

Is Re|Engage Marriage Counseling?

Re|engage is not marriage counseling and the leaders are facilitators, not counselors. While trained to lead, these facilitators are also growing in their own marriages. Everyone in the group is on the journey to oneness in marriage. We believe that openness and honesty in a small group setting using Biblically-based curriculum is where God works to grow and resurrect marriages.
