2 Pet 1:5-9

For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.

For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins.

As God begins to transform our hearts and minds by building his nature into our lives in increasing measures, He provides us the ability to know Him better.  His qualities in this passage will allow you to experience the purposeful and fruitful life that God intends you to live.  When we turn away from the work God wants to accomplish in our lives we will by our carnal nature, focus only on ourselves and become spiritually blind to God’s work in our lives and His work in our world.

Pray

Father, Thank you for providing me the ability to live a full and fruitful life by knowing you and your Son.  Forgive me Father for the times I turn away from you and your goodness and allow myself to focus on myself again.  Confess, by name _______________, the ways you have not allowed Gods qualities in this passage to grow in you.   Acknowledge before Him the ways you have experienced spiritual blindness and the ways you have lost sight of His forgiveness of your sin.  Thank you Father for your great forgiveness.  Help me to live in the light of your great life.  Amen.
