Onward Church-wide Assessment Survey

New year, new opportunity! We have an opportunity to get an accurate pulse on the well-being of our church and congregation. This assessment will help us measure the health, flourishing, and thriving of our church’s leaders, ministry, and our people as a whole. Ultimately, this will help us to more effectively lead our congregation’s spiritual growth. To take the assessment, simply click this link Take Survey or (text ONWARD to 90885).

Encountering God in the Bible is a rigorous, immersive, and biblically focused 12-week cohort, providing special attention to the various genres in the Bible and why they are important to understand.

We’ll tackle questions such as Why study the Bible? Do Christians need to read the Old Testament? What happened between the Old and New Testaments? and more. Participants will walk away with the tools for studying the arc of Scripture for themselves and build confidence in handling God’s Word in a fresh and challenging experience.

All adults are invited. Plus, students 8th grade and up with their parents up are encouraged to come.

Registration includes a CSB Study Bible, a copy of How to Read the Bible Book by Book by Douglas Stuart and Gordon D. Fee, and a PV journal.

Encounter will meet on Wednesday evenings from 6:30pm-8pm. Please plan on joining us for the opening session on February 10th at 6:30pm. It is designed optimally for in-person gatherings and the hope is that you’ll be able to join us in-person. An online option is available as well.

One-to-One Care & Counseling

From time to time, one-to-one care helps us through a season and helps us find direction. Stephen Ministers are available for difficult life circumstances. A Stephen Minister will listen, encourage, assist, and walk with you through this season.

During some seasons, a Professional Counselor may be the best Care Resource for you. Pleasant Valley’s resources include Counseling Interns and Provisional and Licensed Professional Counselors. The individuals we partner with closely align with the Christian values and beliefs of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Scholarships may be available for PV members and attendees through our Care Ministry for counseling not covered by your insurance.

Complete the short form and we’ll be in touch to discuss recommendations.

Building Self Care

Now more than ever, many of us are feeling isolated and alone. Building Self Care is a group for those who have a desire to learn coping skills in life that will bring emotional hope and healing. It is not a community group or therapy, rather it should be used as an additional resource to group life and/or counseling.

Group size will be small and all state and local COVID guidelines will be in place, including social distancing at tables and wearing masks.

It is an open and ongoing group meeting on Mondays (beginning January 11) at 6:30 pm in Room 310 on the 3rd floor.

Day, Date, Time, Location:
Mondays, beginning January 11 – 6:30-8 pm – Room 310 – this is an open and ongoing group

Financial Coaches

Would you make a good financial coach?
We currently have a high need for good financial coaches. Could God use your knowledge to come alongside individuals who need help navigating difficult financial decisions and budget issues? Are you someone who would be compassionate and yet firm to help others build a positive relationship with their finances?

If you think God could use you to help someone else in this way, let us know by emailing Debbie Mora at dmora@pleasantvalley.org
